As we are nearing the end of, or have already finished, the first 100 hours of our student teaching experience, think back upon it.
What were some aspects about the classroom organization and management that you liked? Did not like?
What, if anything, would you change about how your teacher is structuring/instructing the curriculum? How do you plan on teaching the curriculum next semester when you take over the class?
What's something new that you've learned this semester from your teacher or your students?
Some aspects about the classroom that I liked were how organized and managed it was. My cooperating teacher prefers her classroom to be very structured which lead to the classroom staying managed and organized at all times. The teacher keeps students on a very set routine which they seem to be comfortable with. This keeps most students on task and eliminates most chaos. Students know exactly that they are supposed to be doing the second they unpack their belongings and walk into the classroom and if they are not on task, the teacher makes sure that correct their behavior immediately. She had made sure to set her expectations early and clear, which has seemed to work in her favor as the students respond very well to her methods.I will try my best to follow exactly what the teacher has been doing with the class as it seems to work for them. Considering they are only in first grade, a change in structure can be hard for them to adjust to so it is important I try and keep the same structure she has as I takeover the classroom.
